Martina Buc Sajvin
Martina Buc Sajvin lives in Santa Catarina Palopo on Lake Atitlan. Her native language is Kaqchikel but she can speak good Spanish too. Martina's father recently passed away due to excessive alcoholism. She has 8 brothers and sisters and 2 nieces all of who are supported by her now single mother. Because of the crushing economic situation only some of her brothers and sisters can go to school. Martina, helps her mother sell jewlery and textiles in the neighboring village of Panajachel. She often works 10 hours a day.
