Rosa is young and recently married. She is the proud mother of two new children. Upon marrying she moved to her husband's home to live with his mother and father, which is the local custom. She is new to motherhood but is taking it on with energy and passion. She is a superb weaver and seems to produce more tapestries faster than most of the other women in the village. This can probably be attributed to her passion and joy for weaving, and the need produced by having two new mouths to feed. Rosa started selling textiles and jewelry 8 years ago after the sudden death of her mother. After the death Rosa began to sell her weavings in the heavily touristed colonial city of Antigua Guatemala where she worked for 7 years and made lots of friends from the United States. Now Rosa happily weaves and tends to her own little store where she sells thread for weaving in order to make money to help feed her family. Her husband Fransisco works in a hotel. When they have time they both like to help a local Shaman who maintains the ancient Mayan calendar and tends to the needs of Maximon (Saint Simon).
